"The Painted Veil" Exhibit
Sarinda Jones, "Passage" 18"x12"x8"
“The Painted Veil,” curated by Jorge Rojas, Rio Gallery, Salt Lake City, through July 8, 2016.
“Lift not the painted veil which those who live
Call Life: though unreal shapes be pictured there,
And it but mimic all we would believe
With colours idly spread…”
Call Life: though unreal shapes be pictured there,
And it but mimic all we would believe
With colours idly spread…”
Percy Bysshe Shelley
Connections between Rojas’s reading of the veil and Shelley’s poem, from which the exhibition takes its name, are stronger in some works than others. But overall the collective body of work is impressive, and even when the reference to the notion of veiling falters or feels contrived, there remains, with the exhibition, something like unto what Shelley describes as, “a splendour among the shadows…”

Silk Sarong Workshop
The Shibori Silk Scarf workshop was such a success last Sunday.... The Students talked me into doing a Sarong Workshop. We will be using some new techniques in using wax as a resist and using more Shibori Techniques. You do not need to have experience at all I will help in holding your hand. The space is limited due to the size of the materials and work space. This is a perfect time to make a signature piece for your summer wardrobe and the summer fun awaiting us.Click the link to register:

Decline of Glass Production
The decline of glass production will limit artists color choices. Looks like glass is going to get more creative and less colorful. Much love to Bullseye Glass Company, the glass movement. Very Interesting times for the industry, artists, collectors and galleries.
This is still an undergoing process and there will be more to come. I have added a link for you to read up on what his means for everyone.
