I have been working on a lot of Corporate art lately and this piece is for a modern private

residence.... and A fun work to make. 

There are 5 panels that are 30" long and 12" tall.

A lot of fussy cutting that can be a challenge but so worth the time.

Commissioned Glass Art...

I will be in the glass studio for the next few weeks working on some commissions. I thought this would be an opportunity for you to see how the process of Kiln-Formed Glass works.

This sculpture will measure 32" tall x 15" wide x 2.5" off the wall.

This first image is of the cut base glass in a carnelian color, a kind of a reddish brown color. I will also cut clear glass exactly the same shape to be placed on top.















This is also some glass called Frit.... (smaller chunks of glass in different particle size) And some tools to spread out the glass frit.

Mostly clear, amber and a bit of purple.














Detailed image of the unfired piece with the frit inside the kiln to be fired. Notice the particulate size how it gets smaller more powder like.














An above shot of the pre-fired sculpture and frit inside the kiln. The kiln is programed to fire for 10 hours to the maximum temperature of 1480 degrees and will be brought back down and stop at 700 degrees.

At that point it will take another 4 hours or so to come down to room temperature. Then I will epoxy the mounting hardware to the back and deliver it to the gallery on Monday morning.
